What is fireproof expanded polystyrene?

Expanded polystyrene is a material obtained by processing expandable polystyrene, a white petrochemical product, with a rigid structure to the touch, without smell. It is a product, which does not eliminate harmful substances, it does not decompose under the influence of microorganisms, and it does not have any concrete effective as well.
It is recommended for thermal insulation of walls, floor, floors, conventional or reversed roofs, thermal bridges, foundations of thermal insulation systems with mechanical loading.

ADVANTAGES

The use of polystyrene insulation boards in construction allows:

• Reduction of costs for other types of insulation materials - no insulation material has such an affordable price. For example, the use of mineral wool for thermal insulation, would be 1.5 times more expensive than polystyrene.
• Reduction of installation costs – working with polystyrene does not require great physical effort.
• Reduction of costs for space heating - finances spent for thermal insulation (about 0.5 to 3% of the total cost of building) will be redeemed within a very short term.
• Thermal insulation boards can take up to 10 mm of construction irregularities in the adhesive layer for sticking.
• Polystyrene boards can avoid cracks due to material changes in these areas.
• Thermal insulation is exterior – no living space is lost,
• It is lightweight and does not load building elements, which is important in case of renovations;
• It is time effective;
• It saves money by saving energy;

USE

• Thermal insulation of exterior and interior walls in new buildings and for the thermal rehabilitation of old buildings, of terraces, roofs with wood framing;
• Thermal insulation of floors located above cold rooms, of refrigeration chambers;
• Boards embedded in the floor, suspended ceilings under roofs, framing roofs;
• Increase of thermal resistance of building elements (thermal insulation bridges, coating walls of basement) ;
• Thermal isolation of traffic terrace (under  reinforced screed), mechanical loading floor (eg. industrial building);
• Acoustic insulation against noise;

PROPOSED MARKS

• FIREPROOF EXPANDED POLYSTYRENE EPS-F15, density 15 kg/mc, used. It is used for thermal insulation of surfaces with lightweight mechanical loading, apartments, houses, sandwich panels, formwork system lost during casting belt pillars;
• FIREPROOF EXPANDED POLYSTYRENE F25, density 25 kg/mc, used. It is used for thermal insulation of surfaces with average mechanical loading, traffic horizontal terraces, insulation systems of high thermal resistance.
• FIREPROOF EXPANDED POLYSTYRENE F35, density 30 kg/mc, used. It is used for thermal insulation of surfaces with heavy mechanical loading, heavy traffic horizontal terraces such as floors in industrial buildings, car parking etc.

PROPERTIES

Due to production technology, polystyrene boards have a uniform structure consisting of closed cells. This gives them some specific technical features: low value of thermal conductivity, excellent mechanical resistance, lack of capillary, high moisture resistance, cycles (freeze-thaw) resistance, high durability, resistance to vapours, low weight and easy handling. Polystyrene is easily cut with simple tools, has no smell and does not irritate skin.

Polystyrene has the following features:

• good sound and heat insulation;
• waterproof;
• high mechanical resistance;
• dimensionally stable;
• inert to changes in temperature;
• compatible with materials used in construction (cement, gypsum);
• homogeneous density;
• self-extinguishing properties;
• does not rot;
• is easily transported, cut and applied;
• long-term and constant maintenance of these properties.
